Visitor Tracking

Visitor tracking is the process of recording information about every pageview by every visitor to your website, including the actions taken during the visit. When combined over all of the visits spanning days or months, we call this the visitor journey.

You can access tracking information on the Tracking tab in the app. You can also access it from within your own website using the Navu Panel.

If site analytics are about "seeing the forest", think about tracking as "seeing the trees". The goal of tracking is to let you understand how specific visitors are experiencing your website. Above the visitor list, the selection, segment/filter, and search help you zero in on journeys of interest. The journey details lets you dig into one journey in depth.

When you see a "Live" indicator at the top of the visitor list, you'll know that you are seeing live data. As visitors interact with your site, the list will update automatically, and changes will be briefly highlighted. This is true both in the visitor list and for any specific journey you are reviewing.

The selection determines both what kind of visitors may be listed and in what order. For example, "Recent" will show the most recently active visitors that match the current segment/filter, whereas "Conversions" will show the visitors who have converted, shown in reverse chronological order of when they converted.
